This works for me. Since I’ve had knee problems, my older, thinner exercise mat was not good for me. I would prefer it to be slightly wider, however. And the thickness is not the best for some types of exercises; it all depends what you need it for. The folds make it easy to carry and easy to store, but sometimes one has to change position because of them; that is a minor issue, however, a tradeoff.

This mat performs a lot like a very expensive gym mat. It is not too squishy, and it is not too thin. I use it on hardwood floors and it’s better than carpet that has the padding underneath (u can feel the slate under that on carpet if u do enough situps – this mat transfers none of that).

I’ve seen other mats on amazon in the same dimensions that were 2x as much. Don’t bother. This one is really good.

The one drawback I would say is that it doesn’t have the velcro joiners so you can’t attach another mat to it to make a larger surface. That being said I guess I wish it were wider, but then again neither are any of the other mats in the same category. Rather than spending 4x as much for a double-wide mat I’d rather just buy two of these and take my chances that the weight of them would keep them in place, or that I could rig something. Price-wise that’d work out really well.

I work out on the lower level of my split-level house, and the floor, while carpeted, is very hard. When doing floor exercises on my knees, I recently started to feel some discomfort and decided it was time to invest in a quality mat. After reading the reviews on Amazon, I settled on this one, and I’m very satisfied with my purchase. The tri-fold style makes it a snap to put away after use, and the mat is thick enough and large enough to make my floor work comfortable.

For Christmas, we got a Wii Fit Plus. Though many of the exercises require nothing more than a hard floor and the Wii Fit balance board, there are times when an exercise mat would be a nice companion. My wife and I have found this to be perfect for that purpose.

The mat seems very durable, and is very comfortable. I would not hesitate to buy another just like it.

My mat arrived and indeed, it doesn’t smell vinyl-y like most of the mats out there. The vinyl ones are probably more sanitary for use by multiple people, but for one-person use, I appreciate not having the stinky off-gassing and being able to just put a towel over the mat if desired for keeping it cleaner. (The roll-up yoga mats are an option too, but this is nice because you can fold it up and lean it against a wall).

A note: I wouldn’t recommend this as a guest bed/mattress– just as an exercise mat as advertised– because the foam is too firm and sort of crunchy-feeling for that use.
