This is a great training machine.

Quality workout: I bought the Sole E35 elliptical six months ago to cross train for kayaking/canoeing, for winter fitness options, and to improve aerobic fitness. I am a middle-aged woman in good shape and find this trainer to be challenging. For warm-up, I have the incline flat and resistance set at 2-3. Then in my User defined program, I ramp it up from 3 to 8 and also increase the incline of the work-out time. This turns out to be a really good work out and as I get in better shape, the trainer has much higher levels to use. My husband is more of a runner than I, and he gets a great workout with this trainer too.

Programmable: I like the User defined program options. I use User1 and my husband uses User2. There are other programs that you customize using workout time, age, and weight, like the “Fat Burner” program and others.

Comfort: I am 5′5″ and the stride length is comfortable. My husband is 6′ and he finds it comfortable too.

Quiet: operation was very quiet to start; the hydraulics make a bit more noise now but basically very quiet.

Assembly: Like others have stated, this sucker is heavy. Our home gym is on 2nd floor. I thought I was doing us a favor by unpacking this downstairs and carrying all lose boxes upstairs. In doing this, I broke down the main box. If you need to move it to a 2nd floor or even from one room to the next, I would recommend that you open top of box only, lift any items out that you can reach without tearing the box. Then get four strong friends to help you carry it in place. Once we got it upstairs, it took us about an 75 minutes to assemble. Make sure that you tighten hardware as recommended — this will make for a quieter machine.

Have fun and I hope this review helps.

READ LOTS OF REVIEWS,TALKED TO LOTS OF PEOPLE,THEN TRIED OUT MANY MACHINES IN STORES AND LIKED THE E35 THE BEST. AMAZON HAD THE BEST PRICE. NO TAX,FREE INSIDE DELIVERY.THE BIG BOX CAME RIGHT AWAY IN GOOD SHAPE AND THE GUY PUT IT IN MY GARAGE WHERE I AND MY BROTHER IN LAW PUT IT TOGETHER. WE TOOK OUR TIME AND EVERYTHING WENT TOGETHER JUST FINE. IT TOOK ABOUT THREE HOURS. NOT AS HEAVY AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BUT IT’S NOT LIGHT. IT HAS A FULL RANGE OF PROGRAMS THAT YOU CAN CUSTOM TO YOUR NEEDS. VERY EASY TO WORK, AND IT WILL GIVE YOU A WORKOUT! I’M ONLY UP TO 16 MIN. I’D LIKE TO GET TO A HALF HOUR. I CAN’T TINK OF ANYTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT IT. IT’S GREAT,FUN AND I’M GLAD TO BOUGHT IT. BEING STUCK AT A DESK AT WORK ,THIS GIVES ME THE WORKOUT I NEED! BUY THIS. YOU WON’T BE SORRY.

Bought the sole on Amazon about a month ago… It is a tank… extrememly impressed with the fit and finish… Like the reviews said it took some time to put together, but it was straightforward enough and I was impressed with how it all fit together. So far so good, I’ve programed to user settings and it’s working perfectly… Very solid feel and great fluid motion…

This is quite the bang for the buck..

Although I should, I normally do not take the time to write reviews for the products I buy. In this case where the quality of ellipticals can vary so greatly, I found such reviews very helpful when deciding which one to buy.

I bought the Sole E-35 about a month and a half ago and have been extremely happy with it so far. I concur with much of what others have written about it.

Although it was intimidating to look at when I first opened the box, I found it very easy to assemble. I am not a very mechanically inclined person either. The directions were very straight forward with all of the parts individually blistered and numbered to the corresponding “step”. It took me 2-3 hours without the aid of anyone else helping… although it never hurts to have some help. My only complaint about the assembly is that the’”Rubber grommets” listed on line 4 of Step 2 were bagged with the power cord for some strange reason. I spent 20 minutes or more tearing everything apart looking for them. Silly me for not looking in the small bag containing the power cord or not seeing the black grommets against the black power cord.

After looking at it in the store, I planned on having someone else assemble it but I am glad I didn’t. I initially thought about getting the Sole E-25 for $300 cheaper and pay the $118 for delivery and assembly through Dick’s sporting goods. I decided to buy the upgraded E-35 though Amazon taking advantage of the free shipping, lack of sales tax and assembled it myself. By doing this I saved about $200 of the additional $300 for the better model for an overage of only $100 of what I was prepared to spend on the E-25. Just something to consider.

Considering the shipping was free the unit arrived VERY fast. It came in like 2 days compared the to the 2 weeks that Dick’s was estimating. It was a HUGE box but the delivery people did a great job carrying it down into my basement without as much as touching a single wall. I even have a landing and a turn to my basement stairs. I was extremely happy with them and the job they did getting such a big box downstairs.

In the end, I have used it a number of times and am VERY pleased with it. It is as quiet as can be, so much so that you can hardly hear it. It is very well balanced and extremely stable. FAR more than any of the others I tried out. It has a lot of program options, most of which I have not tired yet but seem to be very easy to figure out.

The fan is nice but kind of pointless in my opinion, I can’t say that it really has any cooling effect whatsoever. I would rather them used that space for an iPod charging dock or something like that. Although it does have 3 pretty big compartments, the only other thing I wish it did have was a water bottle holder. Ironically it does come with a water bottle but no place to put it where it can remain upright.

That is about it. It is a great machine and well worth the extra money you might spend on a cheaper brand or model. My experience with these things is you get what you pay for. I was about to spend $800 on a Proform Elliptical till the guy at the store said how bad they were and I read some reviews on it. For just $500 more I got a quality machine that not only feels better but IS better. It will ultimately last longer and has a MUCH better warranty. The warranty is very telling of a company’s confidence in their own product.

We received a Sole E35 a bit after Christmas 2009. When we put it together and it immediately made this horrible loud thunking noise on each rotation which caused the entire unit to vibrate.

We reported the problem to Sole service around 10 days after placing the order which is where all of the problems began. Sole support is a nightmare to deal with. They don’t answer the phone, won’t return voice mails, and even claimed that they had never spoken with me once.

They do support by sending random parts and hoping that they fix the problem. After 4 cycles of the technician failing to fix the problem since they weren’t the right parts, they finally accepted it as unfixable. It took 3 months to get to this point since the technician was about 6 hours from here and only was available to service us for 1 day every 2 weeks.

After going through this and not having a working elliptical (it has actually gotten worse due to some technician’s not doing things right), we wanted our money back. However Sole claims that since it isn’t within a 30-day window, they can’t give a refund. It took longer than 30 days to get the first technician onsite due to Sole support sucking.

I would highly recommend you avoid buying anything from this company.
