Item Description

The Neckpro is an over-the-door home unit for cervical traction. It may be used for the relief of neck pain associated with cervical disc herniation, spondylosis, osteoarthritis, cervical radiculopathy, neck strain, pinched nerve in upper spine with associated pain radiating down upper extremities, tension and/or tightness (muscle spasm) in muscles of the upper back, shoulders and neck, fibromyalgia, whiplash, insomnia and tension headaches associated with tension in the aforementioned musculature under the guide of your medical professional.

Conventional home overdoor traction systems utilize a bag of water and patient trial and error determining the appropriate amount of traction poundage. Neckpro eliminates this old process by coupling a computer designed precision-made compression spring with a unique ratcheting device that delivers a more precise amount of cervical traction tension. Each click of the ratchet audibly signals an increase in the tension being applied. This not only allows traction to be delivered in a progressive format similar to what they experience in a clinical setting, but the audible click allows the patient to monitor and keep track of the settings that provide a positive outcome. The specially designed head halter is easy to apply and comfortable even under high levels of cervical traction tension.

Neckpro Overdoor Cervical Traction System includes Neckpro compression spring & racket assembly, head halter and Adjustable Overdoor bracket Fits doors up to 1 1/2″ to 1.75″ in thickness. Consult your medical professional if you have questions if this item is appropriate for your condition. This item is non-returnable.

For years, I’d get tension in my neck that would escalate into a migraine headache. Turning my head left or right, as when driving, would hurt. This went on for so long that I just assumed your neck was supposed to hurt when you turned your head. It’s not.

I’ve not had any trouble attaching this to the doors in my home, but they are solid wood doors–not hollow fiber board. I do have to put a folded napkin on the door to protect from scratches and ensure a snug fit.

I do not get any discomfort in my chin, as others have mentioned. The position of the straps seems to matter a good deal. And I have to say that the device spring does not provide nearly enough tension for me–I crank it all the way and then use some portion of my body weight.

As funny as I may look with this thing on, it makes me feel incredible. Once the pressure in my neck is relieved, I feel relaxed enough to go to sleep, and I’m sure I would, if I were laying down. The relief lasts me a while–I don’t feel the need to do this twice a day, or even once a day, although I’m sure some people need that.

I’m so happy I bought this. It’s nice being without pain!

I have no official diagnosis for why my neck and back used to cause me so much discomfort- but at it’s worst, it felt like a roaring fire on my back (nerve pain?), and at it’s best, I felt like a 100 year old woman… I tried chiropractors (several) and had an MRI (nothing) and tried massage and hanging upside-down and stretching and nothing truly alleviated the varying degrees of discomfort (I had worked as a nurse for 10 years and had always pulled patients with improper technique/body allignment). THIS device was the answer for me. However, I could not use it in it’s ‘over-the-door’ suggested use- I have used it lying on the floor with the device on the UNDERSIDE of the door. I’ve then had to use a rug-gripper under my behind so I don’t slide up towards the door when applying traction (I also pull my pants down so my clothes don’t cause me to slide and I make skin contact with the rug-gripper). I then pull the rope to get the most traction possible and then I relax and give a little tug with my body (tugging my body away from the door). Just a little bounce or two, while I’m relaxed. This causes my neck vertebrae and my thoracic vertebrae to allign! I’ll lie there for a few minutes to relax my muscles after the adjustment, before removing traction and getting up. It is such a relief to know that if my neck or back feel funny or “out”, I can just adjust it myself now and it doesn’t cost me anything in time or money. I have had to use a 2×4 piece of wood across the inside of the door-jam (or else the amount of traction will pull the door off the hinge or the door frame off the wall) and I hook the device to the 2×4 directly instead of to the bottom of the door. And I did have to replace the rubber pulling-piece at the end of the rope (the thing you pull on to initiate the traction) with a 5″ long dowel rod- because I’ve pulled the rubber piece off before while pulling on it. I used to go to the chiropractor all the time and now I don’t anymore since getting this. I just adjust my own neck and feel better immediately. Well worth the low cost. Note: Get the one with the adjustable bracket for different door widths! I took my device to a hotel once and the doors there were too thick to use my device. They now make it with an adjustable bracket for different width doors. :)

My neurologist reccommended a neck traction device to releive tight muscles and headaches. On my first 10 minute use I got relief. I can’t prove it was because of the devise but it seemed to be. Subsequent use has been very satisfactory. It is a bit awkward to get the harness on but once in place it’s easy to use and effective.

I bought the NeckPro for the muscular neck pain that I was having. After I completed a series of Physical Therapy sessions, I wanted to continue the neck traction that I was getting at the Physical Therapist’s office at home. I found the device to be very sturdy and well made. I used it on the sturdiest door I could find in the house, which happened to be the door that goes out to the garage, because the interior doors just did not seem sturdy enough. As other reviewers have mentioned, I put a rolled up dish towel between my chin and the head halter to make it more comfortable because it does put quite a bit of pressure on the chin and jaw when in use. I use it 2 to 3 times a week. I am glad I purchased it as it does help to relieve my neck pain.

If I had to do this over, I would probably buy this product again.

Pros: This does relieve pressure in the neck.

Cons: The door adjustment sometimes slips. I can’t seem to get those wing nuts tighter.

    This pulls on your chin.

After using this for a week or two, I needed more force during the traction. There jsut is not enough pull for complete relief for my neck. Then again, if it would pull any harder it would be more uncomfortable on your chin.

So if what you need is light to moderate traction and have no jaw problems, this is the product for you. I need heavy traction and I have no jaw problems, so this is not the best product for me. But this is not a bad product by far.
