I am an overweight couch potato who has not worked out in a long time. I also live in a tiny apartment. The important factors for me were size, good reviews here and Consumer Digest, the incline feature, and the motor. I’ve had mine for over a month. Overall I’m very satisfied and surprised that I’m actually using it consistently.

Though I have read complaints about the shipping company, CEVA, I have nothing but praise. They alerted me when they were about a half hour away from my location and then two delivery guys carried it up several flights of stairs.

The unit was easy to set up (if you read the instructions). And here’s the only reason I don’t give this an “I love it!” rating — the unit is (for me) just about at the edge of my capacity to set up and take down. It’s very heavy and I get a small workout when I put it up on it’s edge and then take it back down again. I had intended to do that every day, but it’s just too much of a fight. I put it up once a week. Maybe I’ll get stronger and this won’t be an issue for me later on.

I don’t use the preset exercise programs yet because most of them are still too fast (and last too long) for me. However, I like the easy-to-read buttons on the panel. I’ve used the incline and it’s fine.

I haven’t used the speakers (I watch TV when I’m using the thing). Also, someone commented that the manual was not very good and I concur. However, you can figure things out with a bit of effort — and trial and error.

I just received my LifeSpan TR200 treadmill last night and I have to say that I am extremely impressed with it! I actually ordered mine directly from the manufacturer. They not only gave me free shipping and no tax, but knocked the price down to $599!!! It was very easy placing an order with them and I found their sales rep (Tommy) to be very competent. He told me that the treadmill would leave the warehouse that same day and I would probably receive it the following Wednesday. He was right! I was very happy that the shipping company (R&L) called to confirm the delivery date and they held firm to it (and I live in a very rural area — the closest hub is 2.5 hours away). Previously, I had a horrible experience with purchasing a Horizon T101 treadmill. The shipping company (ABF) canceled about 4 times before finally delivering the treadmill and it arrived heavily damaged. Anyway, I received my LifeSpan treadmill in absolute pristine condition. PCE Fitness did a great job of adequately packing the treadmill with plenty of styrofoam. There wasn’t a scratch, ding, dent, or any broken pieces!

My initial impression of the treadmill is nothing short of spectacular. I’m amazed at how quiet it runs. Prior to purchasing the treadmill, I was really concerned about the belt not being wide enough. However, I got on it and didn’t have any problems with the belt width whatsoever (I’m 5′7, 145 lbs). My boyfriend even got on it and was able to manage just fine — and he’s 6′2, 200 lbs! The machine feels sturdy and I’m able to easily jog on it.

On the negative side, the incline does not go very high and the speakers are not remarkable. They don’t have much bass and tend to crack and pop at the highest level. But the audio input feature is really cool and my iPod sounds great through it. Also, the console shakes a little bit when I walk or jog, but it’s not a big deal and you can tighten the blue caps on the bottom as tight as possible to minimize the shaking.

Overall, I’m really impressed with the quality of the treadmill. It not only looks like it’s a quality product, but it operates like a quality product — smooth, quiet, and durable. At first, I was a little skeptical of this treadmill because when I initially came across it online, I thought it looked a little chintzy. I’ve learned to not be fooled by its simple appearance. Now, I think of it as a completely unique design like nothing else out there. If you live in a small space or just want something that doesn’t weigh a ton, get this treadmill. It’s stable enough to be a solid contender but not so heavy as to break your back when moving it around. Believe me, it’s plenty big; but it’s not so overwhelming that it’s going to take up as much space as a 200-300 lbs treadmill. You’ll love it!

I’ll append my review after I’ve used the treadmill for awhile, and if any problems should develop. But I have a good feeling about this one — I think it’s a keeper!!!

Thanks to all the reviewers who posted comments on this treadmill. Your input was all I had to go on because I purchased this treadmill sight unseen. Thanks for helping me make this decision!!!

I’m less than 5′ tall and 157lbs. Time to loose weight! After researching Consumer Reports, and various customer reviews, I ordered the Lifespan TR200 on April 24, 2010. It arrived today, May 4 (free shipping). One day early – Amazon had indicated that it would arrive by tomorrow. It was shipped via CEVA, a freight company. I tracked the delivery progress on […] You will see the location of your package identified with abbreviations that are used on airports, as in ATL for Atlanta, and MCO for Orlando, and so on. Just use the waybill number and you’ll see where the package is day by day. Given the many load and unload actions it had, I was surprised that the box came in perfect condition. It was shipped from Utah and loaded and unloaded in at least 5 different cities.

Now it is sitting in my garage, waiting for my husband to unpack it and move it inside because, as much as I tried, I couldn’t move it. Will finish this review as soon as we begin using the LifeSpan.

My biggest consideration when looking at treadmills was being able to store it. I tried the TR200 out at the local fitness store and was satisfied with it’s performance for my use. It came well packed, the delivery service Amazon used was very good. I had it up and running in less than 30 minutes (including reading the directions). There is no assembly, but it does need to be leveled.

The heart rate monitor is inaccurate to the point of being not usable (But for me that isn’t a deal breaker.) I haven’t tried the speakers – I play my stereo or t.v. while jogging.

The top speed is 8 mph and I don’t think this is designed for a serious runner, but for anyone who does a casual jog or wants a vigorous walk it’s fine. Be aware the belt is narrow, for me it’s fine but my husband has to pay attention when he jogs so he doesn’t bump the sides. Again I would try to test it out at a store if you think this may be an issue for you. Overall a great product for the price. Oh and Amazon’s price was 100.00 less than in the store.

  5. I. Scobie says:

This treadmill was exactly what I had hoped for, compact yet durable enough for running (6mph). It was ready to go out of the box, I didn’t need to make any adjustments. It’s very easy to fold and move as well. I am small, 5 ft, so I am not sure how it would work for a larger person since the running belt is not that wide. But for me, it’s perfect!!
