The table arrived yesterday. The unit weighs approximately 90 pounds and the box was in pretty poor shape when it arrived, but only a small piece of plastic was broke, which I will ask Ironman to replace. The unit was assembled in approximately 30 minutes, but I would recommend having some additional tools besides those provided to assemble the table. The directions were easy to follow and I was was using the table shortly after it was assembled. I have had two neck and one lower back operation and after trying the unit, I feel this unit may help to eliminate or cut down on the amount of pain the lower back causes. An inversion table was recommended by the surgeon who performed my lower back operation since he said he has had luck using the one he has. I am hoping this unit will help as I have been told by one surgeon the next and only option in the future might be placing rods/pins in my back.
I was using the unit shortly after it was assembled. And it felt great on the back. I believe this unit along with going to the gym and practicing yoga will help strengthen the lower back.
My only complaint is, the box was damaged, this was probably due to the 90 pound shipping weight. I would review the packaging requirement to eliminate any breakage or missing parts due to the package falling apart.
I reviewed several tables prior to buying the Gravity 4000. I am happy with my order.
I spend many hours on my feet and have for many years. I am 59 and about 240 pounds and I have found this product very comfortable and solid. It is very heavy and if you want to fold it up after each use, I believe you will be unhappy. If you can leave it up continually, I believe you will be very happy with it. I believe it helps my back by stretching it our after I have spend many hours compressing it. I only invert at about a 30 degree angle and I have not had any problem with ankle discomfort
I have unable to run or play running sports for several years due to back and hip pain and if I continue feeling better I hope to try running short distances or shooting some baskets again soon.
My husband purchased the Iron Man for my birthday…he assembled it in minutes and we both tried it out. I have suffered from L5 S2 back pain and peripheral neuropathy for years and felt nearly instant relief! The whole “blood rushing to the head” thing was the only negative, but we soon got used to that. My husband has one leg shorter than the other from a compound leg fracture suffered as a child falling out of a tree fort, and has terrible hip pain as a result…he is on it more than I am! One thing we found helpfull when first using was to adjust the heighth to an inch or so taller than we actually are…it gave us better control to get up and down unassisted. I LOVE our IRON MAN and would reccommend it highly to any back or hip pain sufferers. SS
I did not compare this with any other inversion table, but I did benefit from the experience of the many Amazon.com customers who have written reviews here, and I chose this model. I can compare it with other home gym equipment that I own. It is very sturdy, which is especially comforting with an inversion table, and it is not as heavy to move around as its sturdiness would justify. Although the assembly instructions could be improved, assembly was not difficult, and the equipment is excellent. I paid a tad less than the $199 now being asked for it (I paid $179), but I have no idea why anyone would pay twice that, or more, for an inversion table. Highly recommended.
Just like the more expensive Teeter Ups model I test drove at a Relax Your Back store, this one sure does the trick. Anytime my back is giving me even the slightest bit of discomfort I get on this and do full inversion for 2 minutes. The first couple of times it was very strange to be in an upside down position, but after have done this more than a few times, it feels so natural.
Once every couple of days is usually all I need, but sometimes I’ll use it right before bed as well as in the day, or even a couple of times I’ve woken up with back pain and the table cured it in minutes and I was right back to sleep.
