I recently purchase a Gazelle Edge through Amazon, and I’ve been using it regularly for about three weeks (45 minutes for five days a week).
It takes a while to feel comfortable on it, especially for someone like me with extremely questionable coordination, but once you feel confidently balanced, you can begin to experiment by leaning forward and backward to engage different muscles in your upper body and your core.
I can see where someone in peak physical condition would find the Gazelle Edge to be an insufficient workout, but if you’re like me and just want a reliable source of regular cardio, I don’t think it’s a waste of time/money at all. My heartrate does increase and, with sustained effort, stays elevated enough for me to break a sweat . . . which qualifies a fair cardio workout, in my book. Honestly, if you’re extremely lazy about this and saunter on the Gazelle like you’re taking a stroll through a park, it probably won’t produce the results you want, but if you really push yourself, it’s a good workout.
My favorite thing about it is that I think it’s fun — to me, this is extremely important, because I lose interest in workouts quickly once the redundancy of an action gives me an excuse to quit. My attention span is really low when it comes to exercise, so I must be having fun in order to find the motivation. As a result, my usual workouts involve dance and swimming, but both of these require significant time commitments with regards to planning and execution, so there is absolutely something to be said for a machine that I can use any time at home with fairly little advance prep.
Some things to consider:
My “computer” on the Gazelle is already not working. Since this wasn’t a real perk to me, it doesn’t bother me much. I only used it to find out how long I had been on the machine, and a clock will suffice. It does squeak, but cooking spray and/or WD-40 remedied it to my satisfaction. Unless you “hook” the foot paddles onto the main frame of the unit when you want to store it, prepare to have your shin thwacked somethin’ good the next time you try to put it away. It’s rather heavy, so taking it up and down stairs is not advisable.
All in all, I think this machine is definitely work the money, and I can’t see much harm in getting a self-admitted hater of exercise off the couch.
i have had this thing for under a month now and the display thing that tells your time, calories burned, distance is already broke, Ive done nothing harmful to break it, and im sure as hell not going to take it back apart to send it back for a new one, i tried changing to batteries and that didnt work, overall i wish i wouldnt have bought it, and went for a stationary bike instead.
I really like this product. I was a little disappointed when the first one came, one of the holes was stripped because the screw would not go in, and it was the main one on the bottom. I must say though, I contacted Amazon and they had me a new one in Less than 2 days! I have this set up in my bedroom and I can watch tv while I exercise. Even my niece uses it! Great purchase!
I will start out by saying that I am more of a treadmill person. With that being said, my wife suggested this purchse for a low impact workout. It is a little awkward to get use to but if you follow the program they outline in the manual, it does provide a reasonable workout. I feel much more exhausted when I use a treadmill, but the point of this equipment is not to wear you out, but rather to provide a nice aerobic workout. The “advanced” exercises do offer a decent amount of “burn” in the muscles.
Overall, this is a good aerobic workout machine that is somewhat fun and extremely low impact. If you have knees or legs that are prone to being very sore after running outside or on a treadmill, then you should definately consider this item.
However, if you are looking for a way to loose several pounds over a short period of time, stick to running outside. This item simply wont offer you enough resistance to get fast results. This is better suited towards toning and maintaining a particular weight once you achieve it.
The primary focus in choicing was low impact capable of causing an increased heart-rate without causing me a lot of grief. I can break into a sweat as if i had been working hard wih serious aerobic equipment. So because it I get all this without climbing stairs and lifting weights I am delighted. But wait, there’s more when I checked Amazon.com the asking price for a new Gazzelle was $80.00 and it qualified for free shipping. Then I was offered another incentive, the Chase_Amazon Visa which to $40.00 dollars off the sales price. the shipping alone was $39. and change. So by accepting the Credit Card offer I bought a brand new Gazzelle Edge with ocmputer read-out which monitor distance, calories burnt, time spent and more and it was only $40 dollars Us Dollars, it arrived in less than a week. I can now do upto an hour none stop and increase my heart rate which lowers my LDL and I think we have a winner ladies and gentleman. I did some comparison shoppping research on line before agreeing to the offer and there where none beter. What a delightful experience. They even offer changing your bill due date and my bill , the first one isn;t due for about eight weeks, amazing. When you activate the card with the number on back of it they try to hustle you for a monthly $8.00 re-occurring charge for a so-called in-case one of your finacial accounts is comprimesed who is your personal counselor. I opted out, the credit line on my card is low enough at least for that the Fedrals laws will pretect me.
So in summary, if you need exercise at home year round 24 hours a day with lots of links on the Interneet to show you how and offer advice when and how to use your Gazzelle edge, Exdellent piece of equipment, sturdy, priced right and the Credit Card is a Rewards card, I liked the whole experience and the equiptment. Oh yeah it folds up to allow easy concealment and easy acces later that day.
But the Gazzelle it will get you byurning if you wabt or jusy give you a way tokeep your heart-rate elevated without much effort. Buy it and you will get well, We’ll you should feel better at least.
