The product is great and I use it every day the only sad part is I saw a very similar idem for only $20.00 which is 1/2 the price
Well, the package arrived on time and was is good shape. Amazon did ship this with zero shipping charges, which is amazing considering that it is is 40 pound package. Some other folks had complained about a kind of smell coming from the Dumbbells, however it is extremely mild, some of you might not even notice it and is not offensive.
The weights look pretty good for the price I paid (~ $40) and I since these are detachable weights, I can convert them into dumbbells of 5 pound to 35 pounds in weight. And this is great, since I do not have to buy individual weights of different pounds and this one set of dumbells stands good. All in all a very good dumbbell set for a person who is either a Beginner or upto Medium level.
I would put them at above average quality, especially for the price. However the smell will annoy you. I made the mistake of opening them in my bedroom, I can’t get it out of the room. My hands stilled smelled like it after four washings. What is the smell you ask? Diesel.
The case / shipping container arrived damaged, but I expected that. No big deal, however the rubber bushings smelled like gasoline. It was so bad that I had to leave the whole thing outside. I went to OSH and bought a pack of 1″ Garden Hose Washer (Thrifco Plumbing 9400459-T) and a pack of 1 ΒΌ” Slip joint washers (LDR 505 6500) to replace the originals. The fit was perfect and the cost was about $6.00 US. Over all, you get what you pay! I am very happy with the set especially for $37.54 and free shipping. I would recommend this product if you don’t care about the case and spending the additional $6.00 for some new bushings
The box handles were completely obliterated, which is what I get for buying used at such a cheap price. But the box still holds the plates, and the dumbbells themselves work just fine. Good screw caps, good grip, still a great deal for me. But once you need more than 17.5 pounds per dumbbell (max), it’s time to graduate to something heavier.
